Summer is here, a favorite for me which consists of growing weed, the Tour de France, barbecue, reggae and hot weather! Good vibes! This is a grow update from my little backyard garden on what cultivars I planted, what I feed them and how that compares/ contrasts to the last decade.
I enjoy cannabis cultivation immensely and I have a well established organic low till grow in containers and a raised bed. I grow from seed exclusively and use genetics from local breeders, my own cultivars and occasionally happy accidents aka bag seeds. New this year is Autoflower OG that is a feminized variety that flowers depending on age, not light.
This year the lineup is : Runtz x Zkittles bx from Ethos seeds, Wookie Cookie (Dosido x
Blueberry) from Second Generation Genetics, Satori fem from Mandala seeds, Mayberry (SourDiesel x Blueberry) S1 fem from Blue Star Seed company, Pineapple Upside Down Cake
(Pineapple Trainwreck x Monster Cookies) from the Humboldt Seed Company, Deadlights bx
CBD (AC/DC x Pennywise) from Subcool x NorStar, Auto OG from Plauge Doctor seeds, ZOIL (Zkittles x SoilOG) by me and SOIL F3 by me to round it out.
The old adage goes “foot high by the 4th of July” and for some reason that’s a measure of
success in the growth of your plants ensuring a bountiful harvest in October. I had about a 60
percent germination rate, killed a few in transplant or soon after and finally got everything settled late.
Well the majority of my plants are currently 3 feet tall and bushy having been topped once. They are in amended soil with Down to Earth Bio Live, some fungi innocculants, and foliar fed Tappin Roots and BioHeaven. This is different than past grows with bottled nutrients that I mixed and watered in the soil, everything is already there.
Consistently spraying them with food has been new this season and made a big difference
doing exactly what was advertised- they have strong bases and solid branching. I will reapply
dry Bio Live, continue to foliar BioHeaven and water in Epsom Salt and get ready to rock (also need to raise the fence another 6 feet)!
The intention of this garden is a bit different this year as the flowers are really for patient
consumption as I am providing free meds to four people monthly. One of the greatest barriers in the Washington recreational system continues to be financial and for low income individuals getting an ounce of flowers truly improves their quality of life.
It really is the goal of Cannabis Patients PNW to provide Education, Access and
Normalization in the hopes to change the perception of medical cannabis. We offer classes, support and free meds. Please watch us grow through this summer and beyond!
