Welcome to the Cannabis Patients PNW Blog!
Cannabis Patients PNW evolved out of 5-week 10-hour series of classes taught by co-founder David Benedicktus twice a year in the community education department at Clark Community College in Vancouver, WA.
Students in these classes identified the need for an ongoing support network of medical cannabis patients. Students wanted to share information with each other about how medical cannabis works for various acute and chronic health conditions, how patients can speak with their medical providers about the use of medical cannabis, how to prepare for a visit to cannabis dispensaries, and a desire to hear more about the emerging science of medical cannabis as a potential tool in integrative health care.
Beginning in 2017 we began meeting monthly in the living room of co-founder Jeremy Robbins. After meeting there for a year and a half we then found a home in the lobby of a local CBD store. Out of these energies cannabispatientspnw.org became organized as WA State 501(c)(3) nonprofit in October 2020.
During the pandemic we continue to meet online via zoom the last Wednesday of each month from 6-7:30 PM where we present educational talks on specific medical conditions and the emerging research on medical cannabis. Recent topics include: Cannabis and Diabetes, Cannabis’ Anti-Inflammatory Effects, Beyond CBD: CBG and other minor Cannabinoids, Cannabis and Pain Management, Cannabis and Skin Conditions, and Cannabis and Cancer. Please let us know other topics that would be of interest to you by emailing us at cannabispatientspnw@gmail.com.
